Arbitrary code execution via malformed firmware image
Published Dec 8, 2021 · Updated Oct 25, 2024
Heap overflow in FortiOS 6.0.0 through 6.0.13, 6.2.0 through 6.2.9, 6.4.0 through 6.4.6, and 7.0.0 through 7.0.1 allows attackers to execute code. The firmware signature verification function writes beyond a heap buffer while processing a crafted installation image, corrupting memory. A user must initiate installation of the attacker-supplied image; successful exploitation runs code with the verifier's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
