CVE-2021-36152Network attack vector

LDAP traffic interception via trust-all certificate validation

Published Feb 4, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Improper certificate validation in Apache Gobblin 0.15.0 and earlier allows man-in-the-middle attackers to intercept GaaS LDAP traffic. The Gobblin-as-a-Service LDAP client installs an insecure TrustManager that accepts every server certificate instead of validating its trust chain. Exploitation requires a network position between GaaS and its configured LDAP server and permits interception or modification of authentication traffic.
