Stored XSS via unsanitized gift fields
Published Jul 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site scripting in the SocialProfile extension in MediaWiki through 1.36 allows remote authenticated users with awardmanage rights to inject script through gift pages. Gift-related special pages store attacker-controlled titles and other fields without adequate output escaping, causing JavaScript to execute when affected pages are viewed. Exploitation requires the privileged awardmanage permission and victim interaction, and can propagate script execution across gift views and user profiles.
