CVE-2021-36052

Code execution via out-of-bounds TIFF access

Published Sep 1, 2021 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Memory corruption in Adobe XMP Toolkit SDK 2020.1 and earlier allows attackers to execute code through TIFF metadata processing. ImportTIFF_CheckStandardMapping accesses memory after the end of a buffer, but Adobe does not disclose whether the invalid access is a read or write. Exploitation requires user interaction and runs code with the privileges of the application processing the file.
