Administrator code execution via preview-image path traversal
Published Sep 1, 2021 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Path traversal in Adobe Commerce 2.3.7 and earlier, 2.4.2 and earlier, and 2.4.2-p1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute code. Adobe identifies the theme[preview_image] parameter as the traversal input but has not disclosed the responsible function or exact path-validation failure. Exploitation requires administrator privileges and permits arbitrary code execution in the Commerce server context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
