CVE-2021-3588

Memory disclosure via unchecked GATT offset

Published Jun 10, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Out-of-bounds read in BlueZ before 5.56 allows local users to disclose bluetoothd memory through a crafted GATT Client Features offset. The cli_feat_read_cb function subtracts the unchecked offset from the one-byte cli_feat array size, causing unsigned underflow before indexing and returning bytes beyond the array. Low-privileged local access is required, and the documented consequence is limited to disclosure of adjacent process memory.
