CVE-2021-3575Public exploit

Application crash via off-by-one chroma-buffer read

Published Mar 4, 2022 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in OpenJPEG 2.4.0 and earlier allows attackers to crash a decoding application via a crafted JPEG 2000 image. sycc420_to_rgb uses the image width instead of the adjusted loop width and dereferences cb and cr one element beyond their allocated chroma buffers when the image origin is odd. Processing the image is required; the published test aborts under AddressSanitizer, while the CVE record also reports code execution with the consuming application's permissions.
