CVE-2021-35578Network attack vector

Unauthenticated TLS handshake exception DoS

Published Oct 20, 2021 · Updated Aug 22, 2024

Denial of service in Oracle Java SE JSSE in Java SE 8u301, 11.0.12, and 17 allows remote attackers to interrupt services via TLS handshakes. The JSSE SSL logger mishandles crafted handshake data and raises an unexpected exception when a Java application acts as a TLS server. Exploitation requires network access to an application that supplies attacker-controlled data to JSSE APIs; the bounded impact is partial service interruption without confidentiality or integrity loss.
