Remote code execution via Thrift stack overflow
Published Jul 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in IDEMIA biometric terminals allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted TCP/IP packets. Thrift command-handling functions process network-supplied data in a fixed-size stack buffer without adequate bounds enforcement. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful exploitation can expose or alter stored data or make the device unavailable.
