CVE-2021-35520

Code execution via Thrift heap buffer overflow

Published Jul 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Heap overflow in IDEMIA MorphoWave Compact and VisionPass before 2.6.2 allows physically proximate attackers to execute code via serial ports. IDEMIA identifies the locus as some Thrift command-handling functions but does not disclose the unchecked field or bounds operation that overruns the heap buffer. Physical access and an adequate private key are required; exploitation permits code execution, data compromise, or device unavailability.
