Cross-site scripting via javascript URL filtering failure
Published Jun 27, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Mermaid before 8.11.0 allows remote attackers to execute script via diagrams rendered with antiscript enabled. The antiscript option failed to strip javascript URLs from rendered links, allowing attacker-controlled diagram text to reach browser execution. Exploitation requires a victim to render a malicious diagram; the consequence is script execution in that browser context with access to data and actions available to the victim.
