Reflected XSS via unescaped toolbar search value
Published Aug 4, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reflected XSS in Liferay Portal 7.4.0 allows remote attackers to inject script into management-toolbar search results. ManagementToolbarTag.processStartTag writes the keywords-derived searchValue directly into an HTML value attribute without escaping it. Exploitation requires a victim to open the crafted request, after which the injected script executes in the portal origin and can read or alter browser-accessible data.
