CVE-2021-3540Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated root command execution via RPM argument injection

Published Jul 22, 2021 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Argument injection in Ivanti MobileIron Core 10.7.0.1-9 and 11.0.0.1-3 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The install rpm info detail action passes an unsanitized CMD_STRING package value to rpm -qi, allowing injected -E Lua macro options to invoke a shell. Access requires the privileged-command enable password; successful exploitation yields complete root-level control of the appliance.
