Arbitrary file read via unchecked path parameter
Published Feb 24, 2023 · Updated Mar 12, 2025
Path traversal in Peacexie ImCat 5.2 through 5.3 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary server files. The root/tools/adbug/search.php endpoint passes the user-controlled file parameter to file_get_contents and prints the result without path validation. Website-backend access is required; traversal exposes any file readable by the web-server process, including configuration data.
