CVE-2021-3536Network attack vector

Stored XSS via unneutralized domain role names

Published May 20, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Stored XSS in WildFly before 23.0.2.Final allows remote authenticated users to execute script via a domain role name. The admin console accepts script markup in a new role name, and the affected HAL Ballroom component renders the stored value without neutralization. Exploitation requires domain mode, role-creation privileges, and another administrator to view the resulting console content; execution remains in that user's browser context.
