CVE-2021-35344Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Application crash via oversized HEVC SEI payload

Published Dec 3, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Heap-based buffer overflow in tsMuxer 2.6.16 allows attackers to crash the application by processing a crafted HEVC stream. During HEVC header deserialization, HevcHdrUnit::deserialize trusts an SEI payloadSize that can exceed the reader's remaining bits, so BitStreamReader::getCurVal reads beyond the heap buffer. The attacker must cause tsMuxer to process the crafted media file; the demonstrated consequence is an AddressSanitizer-detected abort, while code execution is not established.
