Session hijacking via form-tag regex corruption
Published Jul 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in Zimbra Collaboration 8.8.x before 8.8.15 Patch 23 and 9.0 before 9.0.0 Patch 16 allows remote attackers to hijack sessions. ZmMailMsgView.js applies a form-tag regular expression to sanitized email HTML, rewriting tag-like text inside quoted attributes and corrupting their boundaries. A recipient must open the crafted email in the default Ajax client; the resulting JavaScript runs in the authenticated webmail session and can read mail or send messages as the victim.
