Database credential disclosure via shared client certificate
Published Jul 30, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Authentication bypass in Patterson Eaglesoft 18 through 21 allows remote attackers to retrieve SQL database credentials. Patterson Application Service trusts a client certificate shared by customer installations running the same software version instead of binding it to one installation. A custom client can omit the client-side username and password step, authenticate with the shared certificate, and read the database connection credentials remotely.
