Service interruption via unvalidated 5G SIB type
Published Jun 14, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in Qualcomm Snapdragon modem firmware allows remote attackers to interrupt devices via a crafted 5G NR system information message. The NR system-information parser fails to validate the System Information Block type before processing it, permitting a read beyond the intended buffer. No authentication or user interaction is required; the published impact is limited to availability, and no more precise crash or restart behavior is disclosed.
