CVE-2021-35004

Root code execution via DNS response overflow

Published Jan 21, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Stack-based buffer overflow in TP-Link TL-WA1201 1.0.1 Build 20200709 rel.66244(5553) allows remote attackers to execute code as root. The DNS-response handler permits a crafted DNS message to exceed a fixed-length stack buffer. Exploitation requires adjacent-network reachability but no authentication or user interaction, and successful exploitation compromises the access point as root.
