Local SYSTEM code execution via named-pipe client impersonation
Published Jan 13, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Privilege escalation in Panda Security Free Antivirus 20.2.0.0 allows local users to execute arbitrary code as SYSTEM through named pipes. The pipe implementation permits an untrusted low-privilege process to impersonate the pipe client instead of enforcing the client's security context. Existing low-privilege code execution on the Windows host is required, after which the attacker gains full SYSTEM-level execution.
