CVE-2021-34870

Credential disclosure via unauthenticated privileged SOAP request

Published Jan 25, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Missing authentication in SOAP processing in NETGEAR XR1000 1.0.0.52_1.0.38 allows remote attackers to disclose stored credentials. The UPnP handler accepts a privileged SOAPAction request without verifying an authenticated management session, then returns credential data. Network adjacency is required, but no authentication or user interaction is needed; exposure is limited to stored-credential disclosure and follow-on access using those credentials.
