Authenticated code execution through undisclosed CGI flaw
Published Jun 18, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Improper privilege management in Synology Download Station before 3.8.16-3566 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code. Synology identifies the locus only as the CGI component and does not disclose which privilege check or operation mishandles input. A valid DSM account is required; successful exploitation runs attacker-supplied code with privileges beyond those assigned to that account.
