CVE-2021-34780

Code execution or reboot via LLDP boundary failures

Published Oct 6, 2021 · Updated Nov 7, 2024

Buffer overflow in Cisco Small Business 220 Series Smart Switches allows attackers to reboot devices through malicious LLDP packets. The LLDP implementation performs insufficient boundary checks while processing untrusted LLDP messages, allowing memory corruption. An unauthenticated attacker must share the Layer 2 broadcast domain; successful exploitation executes code or causes an unexpected reload.
