Stored script injection via nonce-free theme saves
Published Sep 28, 2021 · Updated Mar 31, 2025
CSRF in WpDevArt Countdown and CountUp, WooCommerce Sales Timer 1.5.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject stored scripts. The save_theme function in includes/admin/coundown_theme_page.php accepts theme-setting requests without verifying a WordPress nonce, then stores attacker-supplied script content. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to visit attacker-controlled content; the stored script executes in a later browser view under that site's origin.
