CVE-2021-3460Network attack vector

Privilege escalation via unverified support-server certificate

Published Apr 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Improper certificate validation in Motorola MH702x firmware before 2.0.0.301 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to access support traffic. The device's support-server client accepts a server certificate without properly validating it, leaving the outbound management channel open to interception. Exploitation requires a network position capable of intercepting support-server communications; the vendor identifies privilege escalation as the potential impact.
