Root access via privileged SUID utilities
Published Apr 27, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Local privilege escalation in Bender charge controllers allows local users with authenticated access to obtain root privileges via SUID utilities. The firmware assigns SUID privileges to socat, ip, udhcpc, and ifplugd, exposing their privileged operations to a low-privileged account. Local authenticated access is required; successful abuse grants full root control, while Bender reports that electrical safety is unaffected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
