CVE-2021-34489

Remote code execution via DirectWrite object handling

Published Jul 14, 2021 · Updated Aug 10, 2026

DirectWrite in Microsoft Windows releases before the listed security builds allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted content. The DirectWrite component mishandles objects in memory while processing that content, enabling code execution when a user opens or views attacker-supplied material. Exploitation requires user interaction on the affected Windows host; no remote network-only trigger is established.
