Local privilege escalation via use-after-free
Published Aug 12, 2021 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Use-after-free in Windows Event Tracing allows local users with low privileges to elevate privileges on affected Windows systems. Microsoft identifies the component and weakness but has not published the affected object, call path, or exact operation that accesses freed memory. Successful exploitation requires local low-privilege access and grants control at a higher privilege level without user interaction.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
