CVE-2021-34427Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via unrestricted JSP creation

Published Jun 25, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Arbitrary code injection in Eclipse BIRT 4.8.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute server-side code through the BIRT Viewer. The __document parameter accepts an attacker-chosen output filename without enforcing a safe extension, while a report parameter supplies JSP content written under the web-accessible viewer directory. The BIRT Viewer example must be deployed and reachable; invoking the generated JSP runs the injected code with the application server's privileges.
