CVE-2021-34422Network attack vector

Code execution via unchecked shared-file paths

Published Nov 11, 2021 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Path traversal in Keybase Client for Windows before 5.7.0 allows remote attackers to trigger unintended application execution. The team-folder upload name check fails to prevent a crafted file name from escaping its intended path, although the responsible function is undisclosed. The attacker must upload to a shared folder; public-folder sharing makes the path remotely reachable and can result in code execution after file interaction.
