CVE-2021-34401

Local code execution via nvmap access-control failure

Published Jan 18, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Improper access control in nvmap on NVIDIA SHIELD TV before SE 9.0 allows local users to execute code through an error-notifier ioctl. NVGPU_IOCTL_CHANNEL_SET_ERROR_NOTIFIER fails to enforce required access restrictions when a low-privileged caller configures a channel error notifier. Local access and low privileges are required; successful exploitation can also compromise system integrity or interrupt service.
