HTML injection via crafted document link
Published Jun 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Refined GitHub before 21.6.8 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary HTML through a crafted document link. The embed-gist-inline link classifier accepts a crafted file link as an embeddable Gist link, allowing attacker-controlled markup to enter the document. A victim must interact with the affected page while the extension is active; GitHub's strict CSP limits script execution, while HTML injection can alter displayed content.
