LocalSystem privilege escalation via writable service executable
Published Jul 8, 2021 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Privilege escalation in Nica WinWaste.NET 1.0.6183.16475 allows local users to execute arbitrary code with LocalSystem privileges. The WinWasteService.exe binary under C:\Program Files (x86)\WW.NET\WW.PROG is writable by an unprivileged local account, allowing replacement with an attacker-controlled executable. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access; the replacement runs with LocalSystem privileges when the service launches it.
