CVE-2021-3409

Host crash or code execution via SDHCI transfers

Published Mar 23, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Out-of-bounds access in QEMU 5.2.0 and earlier allows guest OS users with privileged access to crash the host process or execute code. Crafted SDHCI input induces a bogus transfer followed by out-of-bounds reads or writes in sdhci_do_adma or sdhci_sdma_transfer_multi_blocks. Exploitation requires control of a privileged guest with an emulated SDHCI controller; success interrupts its QEMU process or executes code in the host context.
