Arbitrary command execution via crafted tag name
Published Jun 1, 2022 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in bbultman gitsome through 0.2.3 allows attackers to execute arbitrary commands via a crafted Git repository tag name. The package processes the tag name during repository handling as shell command input without adequate neutralization, allowing injected operators to reach the operating system. Exploitation requires a victim or consuming workflow to process a repository containing the malicious tag; successful execution runs with that process's privileges.
