Remote code execution via cleartext object deserialization
Published Jun 6, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Unsafe deserialization in Invoice Ninja before 4.4.0 allows remote attackers to execute code through a forged geolocation response. AccountRepository passes the cleartext response from http://www.geoplugin.net/php.gp directly to PHP unserialize(), permitting attacker-controlled object construction. Exploitation requires control of that site or a man-in-the-middle position; code execution occurs only in application contexts that support it.

Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
