Remote code execution via unvalidated object deserialization
Published May 31, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Deserialization in RebornCore before 4.7.3 allows remote attackers to execute code through crafted Minecraft packet data. ExtendedPacketBuffer passes untrusted network data to ObjectInputStream.readObject without validation, letting the stream select classes and constructor data. Exploitation requires a suitable gadget class from installed Minecraft modifications and can target either a server or a client.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
