Unauthenticated code execution via unrestricted ASP upload
Published Feb 1, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Unrestricted file upload in FortiLogger 4.4.2.2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through its web interface. The unauthenticated SaveUploadedHotspotLogoFile endpoint trusts an image/png declaration, stores an ASP payload as logohotspot.asp in a web-accessible directory, and does not validate its extension or content. Network access to the service on port 5000 is sufficient; requesting the stored ASP file executes it with the FortiLogger web service's privileges.
