CVE-2021-33639

Protected-memory modification via writable SVM remapping

Published Mar 8, 2023 · Updated Mar 4, 2025

Exposed SVM functionality in openEuler Kernel allows attackers to modify read-only memory through the driver's REMAP command. The command creates a writable alias for pages from a read-only mapping instead of preserving the source mapping's access protection. Access to the SVM device and its REMAP ioctl is required; successful exploitation permits modification of protected memory or file-backed content.
