Unauthenticated moderation bypass via unrestricted room creation
Published May 26, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Incorrect default permissions in Jitsi Meet before 2.0.5963-1 allow remote attackers to bypass conference moderation. The jitsi-meet-prosody package omits restrict_room_creation from the default Prosody configuration, leaving room creation unrestricted. A server installed with the default package configuration therefore permits unauthenticated conference creation outside moderator control.
