Stored script execution via unneutralized comment JSON
Published Sep 7, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in OnyakTech Comments Pro 3.8 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through posted comments. CommentsService.ashx accepts an attacker-controlled script payload in a comment-posting JSON request and stores it without neutralizing it for later page output. An authenticated commenter must submit the payload and another user must view the affected comment page, where the script executes in that user's browser context.
