Physical code execution via crafted bootshell parameters

Buffer overflow in Broadcom MediaxChange firmware on affected Cisco IP Phones allows physically proximate attackers to execute code. After voltage glitches force a special boot mode, the bootshell processes crafted command parameters unsafely; Cisco has not disclosed the exact faulty operation. Exploitation requires disassembling the device, controlling voltage or current at chip pins, and then using bootshell access to run code with elevated privilege.
