Assembler crash via malformed macro condition code
Published Jul 26, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in Yasm 1.3.0 allows local users to crash the assembler by opening a crafted assembly source file. The NASM preprocessor's find_cc() function dereferences a null token while expanding malformed macro condition-code input. A user must invoke Yasm on attacker-controlled source; the process aborts, interrupting that assembly job without reported data disclosure or modification.
