Local engine crash via crafted script execution
Published Jul 26, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Cesanta mJS before 2.20.0 allows local users to crash the engine by opening a crafted script. Public materials do not identify the responsible function or unsafe operation; they provide a crafted script and an AddressSanitizer trace ending at an unknown module. Execution of attacker-supplied JavaScript is required, and the demonstrated consequence is process termination rather than code execution or data compromise.
