Engine crash via null dereference in mjs_print
Published Jul 26, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in Cesanta mJS before 2.20.0 allows attackers to crash the JavaScript engine by opening a crafted script file. The crafted script overwrites the print binding inside a loop; mjs_print() then dereferences address zero at mjs.c line 8085. Execution requires a user or embedding application to run the file, and the demonstrated consequence is a segmentation fault and process abort rather than code execution.
