Interpreter crash via bytecode commit null dereference
Published Jul 26, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
NULL pointer dereference in mjs_bcode_commit() in Cesanta mJS before 2.20.0 allows local users to crash the interpreter with a crafted file. During bytecode finalization, mjs_bcode_commit() dereferences a null pointer while committing bytecode produced from malformed JavaScript input. Execution requires a user to pass the crafted file to the local interpreter; the demonstrated consequence is process termination, not code execution.
