CVE-2021-3344Network attack vector

Privilege escalation via mounted build credentials

Published Mar 16, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Privilege escalation in OpenShift Builder before 20210125201112-7901cb396121 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite images via builds. During a build, credentials outside the build context are automatically mounted into the image-under-construction container, where build code can read and reuse them to overwrite arbitrary internal-registry images. Exploitation requires an OpenShift user able to execute code in a build; consequences include privilege escalation and compromise of image confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
