Authenticated script execution via unsanitized chat messages
Published Jul 27, 2022 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in Student Management System 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through crafted Live Chat messages. The Live Chat handler receives send_message_chat[message] through nav_bar_action.php and stores HTML markup without neutralizing it before display. An attacker must log in and submit a message, and a user must view the stored content before the script runs in that viewer's application session.
