Application crash via unchecked EXIF directory entry

Out-of-bounds read in FreeImage 3.18.0 allows attackers to crash an image-processing application through a crafted JXR file. JXR metadata parsing passes an unchecked EXIF directory-entry address to ReadUint32 in jpeg_read_exif_dir, producing a one-byte heap read beyond the allocated buffer. Exploitation requires a user or automated process to open the file, and the documented consequence is an application crash rather than data disclosure or code execution.
